ABOUTIN THE FALL OF 2024
Anthony’s eyes lit up when he saw his mother use spray paint for the first time. He stimmed with excitement as he watched the paint mist out of the can before he communicated to his mother that he wanted to try it. She purchased him a large canvas of his own, then, over the course of several evenings, he finished his first large painting utilizing spray paint alongside his tube paint and paint markers. This finished piece recieved immense praise online around the globe and was the catalyst for the current list of art collectors waiting to purchase one of his pieces.
The following summer, Anthony had the amazing opportunity to meet Odesza, his favorite musicians, in person. He gifted them one of his paintings which remains in their studio today. It was a truly life changing experience that only reaffirmed his need to keep creating as only he can.
There is a performance art aspect to his work as he most definitely expresses himself through brush strokes and the pooling and dripping of his spray paint. He chooses his color pallette before he begins and he takes his time between layers, often stepping back to view his progress before moving on.
Anthony’s art pushes back firmly on the antiquated ableist idea that a lack of spoken verbal language equates to a lack of general intelligence and talent. His day to day life is full of hurdles and struggles that require a greater amount of support, but again, his art begs us to see that needing a larger amount of support in one’s life does not equate to a general inability to create works of art. His art is deeply moving and creates a moment of pause for the viewer.
One viewer wrote, “It’s (his art) just like him. The longer you look, the more you see. Truly beautiful.”
Anthony currently lives with his family and creates in the Mid West, surrounded by a selected supportive community. Both he and his younger brother, Taylor, have plans to pursue their creative endeavors within the higher education space in the Pacific South West.
